Do you find it hard to fill your blank canvas? Canva has the solution. During the Canva Create Keynote 2026, Canva unveiled a host of new tools that further speed up the design process. We watched the Keynote so you don’t have to!

What makes Canva interesting is that it makes design accessible to everyone. The free version already offers plenty of possibilities, while the paid versions add extra features for those who want just a little more. Still, the platform also has its limitations, especially if you’re used to working with advanced software.

The most notable announcement was undoubtedly Canva AI 2.0. With this update, they’re taking it a step further by using their AI as a sort of sidekick during the design process. In addition to simply making suggestions, Canva AI now thinks along with you and partially takes over the design process. This opens up interesting possibilities: you’ll be amazed at what AI can do today, but it’s best to decide for yourself to what extent you want to retain control.

Curious about all the new features? Here’s a rundown of the 9 new tools within Canva AI:

CONVERSATIONAL DESIGN

Using Conversational Design, Canva attempts to generate an initial design based on the description you provide. Instead of starting with a blank canvas, you immediately receive a template tailored to your preferences, which you can then further customize. This significantly speeds up the conceptual design phase. Of course, a lot depends on exactly how you phrase your prompts. Further adjustments are usually still necessary.

AGENTIC ORCHESTRATION

During the design process, Agentic Orchestration works with you as a kind of partner. For example, you can ask it to change the layout so that it better fits your brand.

MEMORY LIBRARY

The Memory Library learns from how you use Canva. It analyzes how you work and who you collaborate with. Based on this, suggestions are personalized. This can speed up the design process, especially for repetitive tasks. At the same time, it’s important to use these types of features thoughtfully. They work best when you provide consistent input. In this context, avoid frequently changing your workflow.

LAYERED OBJECT INTELLIGENCE

With Layered Object Intelligence, also known as “Magic Layers,” you can now edit static images as well. The tool transforms an image into separate layers that you can edit individually. This allows you to easily import and customize existing designs without needing overly complex software.

CONNECTORS

Connectors allow you to link Canva to apps like Slack, Gmail, and Google Drive. This lets you create designs using content and context from your everyday tools. With this feature, it’s important to consider carefully what data you’re sharing.

Here’s a concrete example: have Canva draft a newsletter based on the past month’s communications, and then refine it further with your team.

SCHEDULING

The Scheduling feature lets you automate tasks. For example, set it up so that newsletter is created automatically every month. You can still edit details afterward.

Outsourcing repetitive tasks can save your company a lot of time. However, human oversight is important here to avoid mistakes (especially in communications with customers).

WEB RESEARCH

Canva can now also search for information on the web and immediately incorporate it into your design. For example, you can have presentations created for a meeting with clients. Ask Canva for figures or news about that client, and Canva will immediately incorporate it into your presentation. It is recommended that you review the gathered information for reliability.

BRAND INTELLIGENCE

Brand Intelligence automatically applies your brand guidelines. This ensures your designs consistently follow your brand guidelines, without having to set colors or styles from scratch every time.

CANVA CODE 2.0

With Canva Code 2.0, interactive elements can be added to designs without manual coding. The feature significantly lowers the barrier to entry, but for now remains focused on simple interactions rather than complex web applications.

Canva is clearly shifting toward becoming a creative sidekick, rather than just a tool. The platform makes designing easier and more efficient, especially for those who aren’t visual designers or don’t have one on staff. Still, Canva’s strength lies primarily in quickly conceptualizing and developing relatively simple designs. For more strategic work and complex designs, human expertise remains indispensable.
